Wall firestop spacer for SLP series direct vent pipe. When penetrating a combustible wall, a wall firestop must be installed. To further prevent drafts, the wall firestop should be caulked with caulk with a minimum of 300ºF continuous exposure rating to seal gaps. A wall shield firestop must be placed on each side of an interior wall. A minimum 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) overlap of attached heat shields must be maintained. Whenever a non-combustible wall is penetrated, the wall shield firestop is only required on one side and no heat shield is necessary.
NOTICE: Treatment of wall firestops and construction of a chimney chase may vary with the type of building. Therefore, you MUST check local building codes to determine the requirements.
