We had to have the old Heat & Glow fireplace removed from a master-bedroom because it leaked strong chemical fumes. Heat & Glow graciously honored the replacement costs after a some negotiations. We decided to pay the difference and upgrade to a heat rated fireplace with a thermostat otherwise you have to manually turn it on and off. The idea is nice except these fireplaces make very loud booming noises after they turn off from the fireplace sheet-metal contracting when cooling down. It is very annoying when it happens in the middle of the night because it is very loud. The distributor who installed the unit took the old fan kit from the bad fireplace and installed it in this one. The fan might help stop the loud booming noises in the middle of the night, by cooling the unit down? I don't know? We don't use the fan because it makes a loud vibrating sound. If we could control the noises it makes it would probably be great unit?
